Yesterday I wrote about moving away from feeling like we own things. This begs the question: How can I take charge of my life without playing the owner?

Rather than own the blessings in your life, think of yourself as the manager. You’re allotted a certain amount of time to invest and manage the blessings - whether your loved ones, your property, your finances, even your talents and your life! - and you’ve been entrusted by the Light with these blessings.

What aspects of your life need better management?

Are you afraid of losing things? Your money, your house, even your loved ones?

Kabbalistically, this fear is the result of thinking we are the “owners.” But we don’t really own anything, do we? Sure, the deed to the house has your name on it but you don’t need me to tell you that it can be taken away from you in one fell swoop.

Am I scaring you? I hope so. A little fear is good. It breeds appreciation.

What are you afraid of losing? How can you show more appreciation for that which you wish to hold on to?

One of our teachers related a story to me recently about a student of hers who is using all the tools of Kabbalah but is still experiencing major chaos.

This student is facing the reality that her company is downsizing in the coming months and she might lose her job.  Her question to the teacher was, basically, “What gives?”
