The Kabbalists say any time we are in a confrontation with someone, it’s not the first time we locked horns with them. We’ve feuded together in a previous lifetime and because we handled it poorly back then, a spark of our soul was trapped in them.

When we say we ‘lost it’ with someone, we really did. We lost a part of our soul.

This is the deeper reason why we don’t want to be reactive. Part of us is trapped in the other person and the last thing we want to do is lose more of ourselves. Keep this in mind today as you interact with people.

If you’ve been feeling icky these last three weeks, today ought to be a good day. The famed Kabbalist Rav Isaac Luria, the Ari, left this world on this day specifically to give us a break as we enter the homestretch of the conclusion of the three weeks.

One of the great lessons we can learn from the Ari, aside from the wealth of knowledge he revealed in his teachings, is that his spiritual journey took just 38 years. In our youth we think we have time to complete our tikun. But this is one of the illusions of the physical world. Time really isn’t on our side, in fact, it’s working against us.

The question is, do you have your eyes on the prize or are you leaving it for whenever because you think time is on your side?

My mother and teacher Karen Berg revealed the true secret for securing a lasting and genuine peace in the Middle East. Only when an Israeli mother cries out in pain over the suffering and deaths of Arab children, and an Arab mother cries out in pain over the suffering and deaths of Israeli children, will there be true peace.
