Stubborn Heart
July 17th – July 23rd, 2005
This week, the kabbalists reveal that we can invoke tremendous healing within our bodies, providing that we step aside.
What does it mean to step aside?
It means allowing people to help us. Not letting people in is what my mother and teacher Karen Berg calls the stubborn heart. It’s the consciousness of “I know best.” And though it’s healthy to have self-confidence, it’s not healthy when we refuse the help of other people. It is through other people that the Light communicates with us.
The Zohar says that those areas where we don’t open up and let people share with us are our indicators or red flags of how we block the Light. And blocking the flow of Light creates openings for sickness.
We have to make room for the Light. That’s the bottom line. We have to get out of our own way.
If you’re not comfortable receiving, make yourself do it. And receiving can be in many forms. For one person, receiving advice is very comfortable, so they need to receive in other ways. For another person, they don’t let people share at all because they want to do it themselves. They have to open up.
We all need to go against our nature and seek out the areas where we don’t like to receive.
If you are stubborn of heart, my mother says, you can use all the tools you want, but the Light cannot come in because there’s no space for it.
To use the power of this week to its maximum, use the tools with the right consciousness. And one of the best tools we have is The Zohar. The Zohar is our way to bypass the limitations of the brain so we can realize what we think is impossible is possible.
Another powerful tool this week is Shabbat Pinchas, which kabbalists consider one of the most powerful healing days of the year. If you live near a Centre, please do what you can to attend (call your local Centre or Student Support instructor for more information on why this day is so crucial for healing.)
All the Best,
Yehuda
