Red String Mania

During the past few weeks, front pages of newspapers, leading stories on the evening news, and even television sit-coms (“Will & Grace”) have been discussing the Red String. This is in response to the release of my latest book, The Red String Book: The Power of Protection.

The conventional wisdom on the Red String is that it protects us from receiving the Evil Eye. The truth is it protects us by helping us to stop giving the Evil Eye to others. This widely-held misconception is what led me to write this book.

You have eyes - but do you see?

This week we have the ability to see the truth about things that we weren’t able to see before.

TThis sounds good, but it’s a little scary, too, isn’t it? Seeing the truth is not always a pleasant experience, particularly if it’s something you don’t want to face up to or that requires change.

Usually we try to see by asking people for advice. We want to know what they think of what we’re doing. When it’s a personal issue, we need confirmation from friends. When it’s a business decision, we want validation from professionals. We always want input.

“Did I make an impact today?”

The Zohar teaches that you have to be in a place of doing and sharing all the time.  It is important to ask yourself, ‘am I making an impact on the world with all that I do?  Am I making a difference?’  The only things preventing you from thinking these things are entitlement and attachments.  Entitlement tells you you’re too tired to share, and attachments tell you that someone else can do it – you’re not the only one who has to take on the world.
