Rav Berg

As dean and co-director of The Kabbalah Centre, kabbalist Rav Berg carries on the legacy of illustrious masters in bringing the long-hidden wisdom of Kabbalah to the world. Together with Karen Berg, his wife, it was the Rav who brought Kabbalah out of obscurity and made it the fastest-growing spiritual movement in the world. In so doing, the Rav faced criticism and even violence from traditionalists determined to restrict kabbalistic wisdom from the people. Today The Kabbalah Centre has more than 50 locations around the world. Approximately four million students have participated in the Centre’s courses and other programs over the past 30 years.

Born in New York City to a family with a long spiritual tradition of scholars and teachers, the Rav’s upbringing followed a traditional religious path, and he was ordained at Torah VaDaat, the renowned rabbinical seminary. After studying in Israel with the great kabbalist Yehuda Brandwein, however, the Rav made the decision to devote his life to bringing Kabbalah to the world. Karen Berg wholeheartedly joined in this decision, and upon returning to the United States, the Rav and Karen established The Kabbalah Centre with a simple but powerful purpose: to improve people’s lives by bringing the teachings of Kabbalah to all who desire to learn.

Over the past 35 years, the Rav has lectured and taught in countries around the world, working with spiritual and world leaders to foster global peace. His work in the Middle East has been especially powerful, seeking to defuse hostility and misunderstanding in Israel, and reaching out to the people of Iran by providing thousands of copies of The Zohar, the fundamental book of kabbalistic wisdom. The Rav has also touched the lives of millions through his own writing. His books — including Immortality; Wheels of a Soul; The Power of One; Secret Codes of the Universe; Education of a Kabbalist; and many others — succeed in making Kabbalah accessible and relevant to modern readers while always preserving the authenticity of the teachings. In addition, the Rav for many years led daily and weekly study sessions on Torah portions, the meaning of holidays, The Zohar, and the writings of great kabbalistic teachers. Under the guidance of the Rav, The Kabbalah Centre continues to make the wisdom and universal principles of Kabbalah accessible to all for the first time in history.
